Our name, Spice Isle, reflects the heritage of owner Joyce Joseph’s parents and generations prior. They hail from the southeast Caribbean island of Carriacou, Grenada which is known as the "Island of Spice" due to its production of nutmeg and mace, of which it is one of the world's largest exporters. Fusion represents our modern integration of northern, central, and southern Caribbean island flavors with American influences creating a fresh flair to Caribbean cuisine. "
Joyce Joseph first visited the Caribbean island of Carriacou at 6 years old where her parents were born. She grew up enjoying Caribbean and American cuisine and later travelling to many Caribbean islands spanning from Antigua to Aruba, Jamaica to Trinidad enjoying Caribbean cuisine there and in her then home, New York City. Joyce happily introduces modern Caribbean food to Warren near to where she has lived for over a dozen years.
